Check-in

How long before your departure can you check in?

It depends on your departure airport:

  • Flights departing from Paris Orly: check-in closes 30 minutes before departure time.
  • Flights departing from Clermont-Ferrand or Rodez: check-in closes 20 minutes before departure time.
 
You can now check in online by clicking on the Check-in tab on the website, from 3 days before departure and up to 2 hours before the flight.
Families
Are you traveling as a family? Here’s everything you need to know before your flight!
 
Child under 2 years old  
Travel is permitted but not recommended for newborns within 7 days of birth.
If the newborns is less than 48 hours old, a medical report indicating that no risk to the infant and the in-flight passenger is involved must be provided. 
 
 

Accompanying passenger

  • Every infant must be accompanied by an independent adult who is at least 18 years old. The accompanying adult may be under the age of 18 if he or she is the child’s father, mother or legal guardian.
  • When a passenger travels with two infants, a second accompanying passenger, to whom the same rules apply, is mandatory.
  • The accompanying passenger may be responsible for more than one child (maximum 12), only if there is only one infant.
  • Infants must have a flight ticket showing their last name, first name(s) and date of birth. 
 
We do not provide cribs. 
 
Children between 2 and 11 years old

Accompanying passenger

  • Every child must be accompanied by an independent adult who is at least 18 years of age. The accompanying adult may be under the age of 18 if he or she is the child’s father, mother or legal guardian.
  • Children traveling with a PRM who has a security assistant must be 5 years old or older.

A group of children must be accompanied by independent adults over 18 years old. A maximum of 12 children may be accompanied by an adult, either:

  • 1 accompanying adult for groups of 2 to 12 children,
  • 2 accompanying adults for groups of 13 to 24 children,
  • 3 accompanying adults for groups of 25 to 36 children,

Note: The maximum group size for accompanied children is 20 people. Exceptionally, it can be increased. 

When the accompanying person is not a parent or legal guardian, a liability waiver for a child under 12 years of age must be completed.

Your child’s baggage

Children traveling with a child fare receive the same number of bags as adults and their excess baggage is charged at the same price as adults.

We are happy to welcome your children travelling alone between 4 to 11 years old on board our aircraft.

On all Amelia International flights, children between 4 and 12 years old included travelling alone must be checked in as unaccompanied minors (UM – Unaccompanied Minor). They are taken care of by Amelia International staff.

To know

  • Amelia International cares for children with coronary artery disease with physical disabilities, with the condition that they can fasten and unfasten their seatbelts by themselves. Children with coronary heart disease and mental disabilities are cared for by Amelia International. 
  • An unaccompanied child may not be seated in the emergency exit row.
Expecting a new addition to the family? Here is some information and advice to prepare your trip smoothly.
 
Simple pregnancy

You are allowed to travel without a medical clearance for up to 28 weeks.
 
If you are between 28 and 36 weeks pregnant, you will be required to provide a medical clearance from your doctor stating that there is no objection to travel by air.
 
Avoid travel starting from week 37 of your pregnancy. If you have no other choice, a medical clearance and a written consent signed by yourselves will be required.
 
Multiple pregnancy

In case of multiple pregnancy, you are allowed to travel without medical clearance up to 28 weeks.
 
If you are between 28 and 32 weeks pregnant, you will need to provide a medical clearance from your doctor stating that there is no objection to travel by air.

Avoid travel strating from week 33 of your pregnancy. If you have no other choice, a medical clearance and a written consent signed by yourselves will be required. In any case, you will not be allowed to travel after 38 weeks of pregnancy, even with a medical clearance.
 
 
High-risk pregnancy
In the case of a bleeding or painful pregnancy, a medical clearance indicating that the pregnancy is not life-threatening for the mother or baby is required.
 
  • The medical clearance must be written on the letterhead of the health institute or the doctor and must be given by a specialist.
  • The medical authorization must be issued within 30 days prior to the flight.
  • The name and surname of the doctor, diploma number, signature must be clearly indicated on the report.
Health and passenger assistance
Is your mobility reduced due to a disability, age or illness? We are here to assist you throughout your trip.
 
  • No documents are required for your trip.
  • The maximum number of people with reduced mobility is limited to the number of able-bodied passengers who can help you in an emergency.
  • Seating requirements will be taken into consideration.

   

Do you need to be accompanied by a safety assistant?

A safety assistant is required if the passenger is unable to: 

  • Respond appropriately to flight safety instructions due to severe mental disability
  • Physically assist in her or his own evacuation in case of severe motor disability
  • Establish a means of communication with the staff due to severe visual and hearing impairment

 

Wheelchairs 

The passenger can check in up to 2 wheelchairs and/or a pair of crutches and/or orthopedic equipment such as a walker or prosthesis at no extra charge. 

Additional seat

  • An additional seat is provided for passengers with an immobilized leg (with a movable knee or not).
  • A medical authorization is required for passengers who have recently undergone an operation (not able to move around in the cabin).
  • Medical clearance is not required for injured passengers (with a walking cast and sufficient independence, able to move around in the cabin).
  • A safety assistant is required if the passenger cannot physically assist in her or his own evacuation in case of severe motor disability, whether or not a medical certificate is required.
  • These passengers may not be seated in the emergency exit rows.
 

To know 

Passengers with mental disabilities are accepted on board under the same conditions as persons with reduced mobility.

No prior agreement is required before the flight unless the passenger is accompanied by a guide dog. A guide dog certificate will then be requested.

We transport your guide dog free of charge in the cabin. The conditions of acceptance and transportation are as follows:

  • The passenger must not be seated at the exit rows.
  • The passenger is seated on an aisle seat and the dog is seated on a window seat attached with his harness.
  • On a full flight, the passenger is placed on the window seat and the dog is placed at the feet of the passenger.

No prior agreement is required before the flight unless the passenger is accompanied by a guide dog. A guide dog certificate will then be requested.

  • The passenger must not be seated at the exit rows.

Personal oxygen bottles

The transport in the cabin of personal oxygen bottles (gas) is authorized on our flights, under certain conditions:

  • their height must not exceed 65 cm,
  • their weight must be less than or equal to 5 kg,
  • they must have a safety system to prevent any accidental escape of the contents.

Liquid oxygen systems are prohibited. 

 

Portable oxygen bottles

  • It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that the oxygen bottle they are carrying is certified for boarding – a certificate must be provided.
  • It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that the oxygen bottle is filled with sufficient oxygen for the duration of the flight.

 

Portable oxygen kit

  • It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that the oxygen kit and associated lithium batteries (number of watts) are certified to be carried on board.
  • It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that the batteries are charged satisfactorily to ensure that the kit will function for the duration of the flight.

 

Personal Oxygen Concentrator (POC), Ventilator, Respirator and Apnea Equipment (CPAP)

  • These items are not permitted as checked baggage. They are considered as cabin baggage and are accepted in addition to standard cabin baggage.
  • They must be placed under the seat.
  • Only POC items marked and approved by the FAA/EASA are allowed on board.
  • Personnel must also check the spare lithium batteries carried:

    • For lithium metal batteries: the lithium content must not exceed 8 g;
    • For lithium-ion batteries: the watt-hour rating must not exceed 160 Wh.
  • They must be individually wrapped or protected to avoid short circuits.
 
Incubators and respirators are not accepted on Amelia International flights. 

Any passenger who must travel with injectable drugs or syringes in the cabin must be in possession of a prescription or medical certificate issued by his or her attending physician. Otherwise, he or she will be subject to the conditions of acceptance of the security check.

A medical certificate is required for passengers:

  • Who appear to be suffering from a communicable disease or condition that could pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other passengers on the flight.
  • Whose medical condition gives reasonable doubt as to the person’s ability to safely complete the flight without requiring extraordinary assistance during the flight, such as stretchers, persons with acute medical problems such as a recent heart attack, stroke, embolism, persons who have undergone recent surgery, etc.
  • Who may require medical treatment during the flight (e.g. need for supplemental oxygen, infusions, etc.).

Amelia International cannot authorize the transport:

  • Infants in an incubator
  • Passengers suffering from a contagious or infectious disease, such as tuberculosis, infectious hepatitis, scarlet fever, diphtheria, chicken pox, etc.
  • Passengers who have had a heart attack or stroke in the last eight weeks before the flight
  • Passengers requiring medical treatment by means of an air or electrically operated device which, for specific reasons, cannot be used on board.
Animals

Accepted animals

You can carry a dog or cat weighing up to 8 kg (bag included) in the cabin. We recommend that you indicate that you are transporting an animal as soon as you book your ticket.

Transport rules

  • The bag must be able to be placed under the front seat.
  • The dimensions must not exceed 115 cm (46Wx28Wx24H cm).
  • The animal must be at least 12 weeks old and have its vaccinations up to date.
  • The bag must be large enough to allow the animal to stand up and turn around. 
  • Under no circumstances should the animal leave the bag during the flight.
  • You may only carry one animal per bag.
  • Each passenger may only travel with one animal.
For safety reasons, rigid animal transport crates are not accepted in the cabin, whatever their dimensions.
  
Cost of transport
The transport of an animal in the cabin is charged 40€ per flight. 
 
 

Accepted animals

Only cats and dogs are accepted in the hold, weighing between 8 and 60 kg maximum (cage included).

Transport rules

  • Transportation in the hold is limited to one animal per flight. 
  • The animal must be at least 12 weeks old and have its vaccinations up to date.
  • The cage must be large enough to allow the animal to stand up and turn around. 
  • We recommend that you indicate that you are transporting a animal as soon as you book your ticket.

   

Cost of transport
The transport of an animal in the hold is charged at 80€ per flight. 

Baggages

Only one piece of hand baggage and one accessory are allowed in the cabin. The maximum dimensions of your baggage must not exceed H 55 x W 35 x D 25 cm per passenger. The weight of your baggage must not exceed 10kg. 

The accessory may be a handbag, briefcase, camera, laptop computer, or an item smaller than the dimensions given above. 

The total weight of your cabin baggage and the accessory must not exceed 12kg.

Number of checked baggage items
The number of checked baggage items you can transport free of charge depends on your fare and cannot exceed 3 per person per flight. Your baggage information is displayed when you choose your flights. 
For the Optimum and Flex fares, 1 baggage item weighing up to 23kg maximum.
Please note that infants not occupying a seat are allowed one 10 kg checked baggage item.
 
Additional baggage

The second checked baggage item is charged 45€ if you book in advance, or 60€ at the airport. 

 

Checked baggage size

Checked baggage items must not exceed the dimensions: height + width + depth (including wheels and handles) = 158 cm maximum.

 

Larger baggage option

Bulky baggage should not exceed 300 cm. They are charged 40€, only at the airport.

 

Checked baggage weight
The maximum weight allowed per checked baggage item is 23 kg.
 
Heavier baggage option
If the weight of your checked baggage exceeds the weight included in your fare, but does not exceed 32 kg, you will have to pay an airport surcharge of 70€. 
  • Sports equipment is considered as standard baggage.
  • A maximum weight of 23 kg must be respected and a maximum total dimension of 300 cm.
  • The following are allowed: golf bag, diving equipment, fishing equipment, ski equipment, surf/kite.
  • Bicycles and tandems require an extra charge of 40€.

Hand baggage 

  • If the instrument fits in the upper compartment, it can be placed there. If not, it is accepted as an additional seat under the conditions applicable to cabin seat baggage.
  • They must be packed in a rigid case with rounded corners.

Checked baggage  

  • A musical instrument is considered as standard baggage.
  • The instrument must be packed in a hard case suitable for the protection of the instrument.
  • Prior authorisation is required if the weight of the instrument exceeds 32 kg and/or if the overall dimensions exceed 300 cm (cello, bass or any other instrument of similar size).
  • Musical instruments weighing more than 45 kg are not accepted as checked baggage.

The items allowed as seat baggage are as follows:

  • Musical instruments
  • Works of art
  • Certain electronic equipment
  • Important trophies
  • Diplomatic baggage
  • Valuable baggage
  • Infant cradle and transport seat, including car seat

The maximum weight must not exceed 32 kg per seat. The length must be such that it does not prevent passengers from seeing the seat belt sign, the “non-smoking” sign or the mandatory exit sign.

The normal checked baggage allowance applies for each additional seat booked: 1 piece of 23 kg for the Optimum and Flex fares.

The allocation of seats must comply with the following conditions:

  • The passenger and the extra baggage must travel on 2 adjacent seats.
  • The extra baggage must be placed on the seat on the window side.

 

Prices are available on request and applied according to the rates applicable at the booking time. 

If you have a connecting flight and have to travel on a flight of another company, the baggage transport rules of that company apply. They may be different.

Please consult the website of the airline operating your flight. We recommend that you respect the most restrictive conditions.

The following items are prohibited in the cabin and in the hold on all Amelia International flights. 

  • Any aerosol, including tear gas aerosols (regardless of capacity)
  • Camping stoves with refills or butane bottles, even if empty
  • Gas cartridges (with or without dispersion device)
  • Gas camping lamps, gas lighters and refills for gas lighters and curlers
  • Lighter with flammable liquid reservoir containing unabsorbed liquid fuel and refills
  • Aerosol samples (in large quantities)
  • Emergency oxygen bottles for deep sea diving
  • Helium inflated toy balloon
  • Fire extinguishers, oil and petrol stoves
  • Paints, thinning agents, car lacquers, varnishes
  • Fuel or any flammable liquid sample
  • Devices powered by an internal combustion engine (mopeds, motorbikes, go-karts, lawnmowers, generators, golf carts, generator engines, scooters…)
  • Spare parts for cars, such as batteries, tanks, etc.
  • Any lighting that works with flammable liquid,
  • Any explosive, other than hunting and sporting ammunition classified as safety ammunition, such as fireworks,
  • Bengal fireworks, flares, firecrackers, explosive toys, distress signals or flares, etc., which are not classified as safety ammunition.
  • Wood
  • Segways and electric unicycles (even if the batteries are removed) and related electric vehicles (windsurfing boards, skateboards, scooters, etc.).

Toiletries and medicines, including perfumes, aerosol hairsprays and liquids containing alcohol are accepted.

Maximum quantities to be respected:

  • Alcohol: 5 litres (when the retail packaging does not contain more than 70% alcohol by volume)
  • Medical or toiletries: 2 litres – hair lacquers, perfumes, colognes and medicines containing alcohol.
